I-10 / Energy Corridor
New 90,000 square foot Class A Office Building - Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a Norwegian-based engineering company that provides risk management and asset maintenance / enhancement consulting to the energy and maritime industries, plans to develop a 90,000-square foot Class A office building in the Katy submarket for its Houston operations, located between Mason Road and Grand Parkway, one-half mile from I-10, or Katy Freeway. DNV will still be conveniently located to their energy-related customers in the Energy Corridor.
Company Relocation - Smart Pipe Company, Inc. Founded in 2004, announced the relocation of Smart Pipe to a new and expanded facility in the Westgreen Business Center, in Katy.
KBR West Houston Campus – KBR announced plans to develop a 910,000 square foot campus facility near Katy, Texas. The campus will be located off Grand Parkway and Interstate 10 (I-10). Maintaining a downtown Houston presence will give KBR the flexibility to support engineering, project management and government contracting opportunities throughout the energy corridor in west Houston, with completion anticipated in 2010.
"Not only will the new campus enable KBR to meet our future growth demands, but it will also provide the Company with a more favorable location amongst its growing employee and customer base in the Houston metropolitan area."
PetroSkills - New 30,000 square foot training facility – PetroSkills, a petroleum training company, plans to open the Katy Training Center by mid 2008 in the Katy Mills complex area.
New 1,200,000 sq. ft. distribution center and 90,000 sq. ft. retail outlet - Rooms To Go announced it has purchased 118 acres of land along I-10 near the southwest corner of Igloo Road for construction of a 1,200,000 sq. ft. distribution center and 90,000 sq. ft. retail outlet. The new facility will entail a capital investment of over $30,000,000 and employ at least 300 employees.
Company Relocation - Foster Wheeler USA Corp. is moving its headquarters to the Energy Corridor and to the Katy Area. The company has leased over 300,000 sq. ft. in the Energy Center at Eldridge and I-10. Foster Wheeler will move 1,000 employees in June 2008 to the Energy Center and plans hire another 400 to 500 employees in coming years.
