Katy Area

The Katy Area has seen phenomenal growth in the past several years. The Mills Mall (www.katymills.com), the Grand Parkway, widening of IH-10 and the success of other developments in the area have all contributed to growth. The “energy corridor” of nearby oil and gas related businesses brought new demand for homes as that industry expands and enjoys good prices. Most importantly, continued recognition of Katy ISD in providing high quality education is a major draw for parents of school age children looking for a residence.
The Katy segment of the widening of I-10 from Katy to Houston is complete. When completed to downtown Houston, the improved I-10 will significantly benefit the traffic flow to and from Houston. The Westpark Tollway now provides a second fast path to the Galleria area and Downtown. Plans have been discussed to continue the tollway westward to connect with I-10 west of Katy.
